Years after everyone else in the world, I finally got a smart phone
I stuck with Verizon and got the Droid 2.0. I am in love with it and it is awesome. I'm still sort of figuring out how to use some parts of it. But so far, here are the things I am curious about/want to see. Any thoughts, internet?
- Google Voice. I set up an account. I got the ap. But it still isn't working. Any ideas? All I really want it to do is send me voicemail transcripts. Will that muck up my actual voicemail? And being able to listen to my voicemails regularly/use the Verizon visual voicemail?
- Before I got my phone the coolest thing I'd heard about the Droid was the ability to set it up to know where you are, and make your settings react accordingly. Which it does! The app is called Locale and it is rad. It goes to silent when I'm at work, and there are many other more advanced functions I haven't mucked around with yet. But battery is an issue with the Droid and constant syncing of gmail takes up a lot of it. So I want it to stop syncing while I'm at work. Which according to the internets, it can't do (because of some security upgrade with the 2.0 phone). Any ideas?
- I haven't put any of these to real work yet, but the restaurant finding app that people seem to recommend (Sherpa) doesn't appear to exist in the marketplace (the Droid app store). I downloaded Where, but it seems to get confused about my actual location. Anybody have another favorite?
- Or how about an app that uses your GPS to let you know restaurants that deliver in your area (plus menus?)?
