That bill concerns me. If a violent sex offender chooses castration to get out of prison, but still has the same urges because they never received mental health attention after they were released, their frustrations may then mutate the sickness into that of a violent murderer or serial killer or they may just pull a Ted Bundy and use inanimate objects. The purpose of this bill is to save $100 million on mental treatment of criminals which is ridiculous. If they are going to rape little kids, leave them in jail for the rest of their lives.
I have mixed feelings on the bill; I largely think you're right, it's just taking a weapon away from somebody that's bound to use whatever weapon they can find. Pretty much, I just wanted to maake a reference to Stinker getting neutered.

Exactly. For many sex offenders, mainly rapists, the cause of their offense is usually anger and the need for dominance, rather than any sort of sexual urges. For pedophiles however, the urge is usually sexual, and so castration may, in fact, change that. Castration would decrease ones hormones levels, but would that be enough? It really begs the question of whether or not people want to take that risk to find out if thats enough. However, someone who is willing to have themselves castrated may also be someone who genuinely wants to reform. Anyhow-its a sticky issue, but an interesting bill nonetheless...
