Warning: Educational Content (that's kinda trippy)

Whether you're astounded by astronomy, just stoned, or somewhere in between, you'll probably enjoy the Astronomy Picture of the Day. Everytime I've looked at it, it's proven very cool and very interesting. Check out today's pic:



This is two white dwarf stars, orbiting each other - from 80,000 kilometers apart. They circle every 321 seconds. Pretty impressive. Apparetly, these guys are ultimately destined to merge. I'll leave the metaphorical significance up to reader interpretation rather than editorial detrius.

this brings to light an interesting biological question: when two white dwarves merge can a normal height white child be born?
